Indian Super League Chennaiyin Fc Sack Head Coach Owen Coyle

Indian Super League: Chennaiyin FC sack head coach Owen Coyle

Chennaiyin FC have parted ways with head coach Owen Coyle, as announced by the club on Tuesday. The decision comes after a string of disappointing results for the two-time ISL champions.

Under Coyle's guidance, Chennaiyin FC managed to win just two of their first eight matches in the ongoing ISL season, losing four and drawing two. The club currently sits at the 10th spot in the 11-team standings.

Chennaiyin FC co-owner Vita Dani expressed his disappointment with the results and said that the club needs a change in direction.

"We have decided to part ways with Owen Coyle as head coach. We would like to thank Owen for his contributions to the club and wish him all the best in his future endeavors," Dani said in a statement.

"We have not been able to achieve the results that we had hoped for and we believe that a change is needed. We are confident that we can turn things around and we are committed to doing so," he added.

Chennaiyin FC will now be led by assistant coach Syed Sabir Pasha on an interim basis. The club is expected to appoint a new head coach soon.

Coyle's departure comes just days after Odisha FC sacked head coach Sergio Lobera. Lobera had guided Odisha FC to the semifinals of the ISL last season.

The Indian Super League has seen a number of coaching changes in recent weeks. SC East Bengal parted ways with head coach Mario Rivera last month, while Jamshedpur FC sacked Owen Coyle earlier this season.
