Matt Hudson-Smith led a successful British charge at the Diamond League Final in Brussels on Thursday (September 1), winning bronze in the men's 400m.
Keely Hodgkinson finishes fourth in 800m
Keely Hodgkinson narrowly missed out on a medal in the women's 800m, finishing fourth in a time of 1:58.83.
Other British athletes impress
Other British athletes who impressed in Brussels included:
- Dina Asher-Smith, who finished fifth in the women's 100m in a time of 11.13 seconds
- Zharnel Hughes, who finished seventh in the men's 100m in a time of 10.18 seconds
- Andrew Pozzi, who finished fourth in the men's 110m hurdles in a time of 13.36 seconds
Hudson-Smith's victory
Hudson-Smith's victory was the highlight of the night for the British team. The 28-year-old ran a well-judged race, staying in contention throughout and coming through strong in the final straight to finish third in a time of 44.92 seconds.
Close finish
The race was won by American Michael Norman, who finished in a time of 44.52 seconds. Kirani James of Grenada took silver in a time of 44.74 seconds.
Hodgkinson's performance
Hodgkinson's performance was also impressive. The 20-year-old ran a strong race, but was ultimately unable to match the pace of the leaders.
Other British athletes
The other British athletes who competed in Brussels also put in strong performances. Asher-Smith and Hughes both ran well in the sprints, while Pozzi was unlucky not to medal in the hurdles.
